Model wearing an Impression pattern dress for Prisma

PatternLab is a textile and surface design project at Aalto University, where students act as a professional studio, creating patterns individually and selling them to S-Group. The designs address four categories: women's indoor, sleepwear, plus size, and home textiles.

Combining trend research and an understanding of client needs, each design began with hand-drawn drafts featuring natural elements, refined into vector repeat patterns with multiple color and scale combinations — an iterative process that resulted in tailored designs across sub-collections including Impression, Cheerful Periwinkle, Matches Flowers, Petits Soleils, Hydrangea, Shell Flowers, Tulips, and Elegant Reeds.

Achievements

  • Drove 36% of total patterns sold to S-Group through trend research and sales analysis in a 10-designer team
  • Achieved a record-breaking 33% of total pattern sales in PatternLab's 20-year history
  • 51% of Prisma's 2024 PatternLab products feature these designs, continuing into 2025
